Night tours of Petra allow visitors to see the lost city in the darkness. Candles line the path to the Siq, and also line the entire Siq until it reaches the treasury.
Once at the treasury, there are candles all over the ground, making for a beautiful sight.
Petra by Night tour participants are then given tea and have the opportunity to listen to live folk music in the darkness.
From there candles light the way through the city. They don’t light up the buildings and tombs themselves, though. As such, if you haven’t been to Petra before, it is a good idea to take a Petra tour during the day before you take the Petra by Night tour. That way you will have an idea of where you are when you return in the evening.
